Neal H. Blauzvern, D.O. graduated from Haverford
College, Haverford, Pennsylvania, in 1976, with a
Bachelor of Science in Neuropsychology. He
received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the
New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1983.
Dr. Blauzvern completed his internship in Internal
Medicine at Long Island College Hospital in 1984 and
a residency in Anesthesiology at the State
University of New York at Stony Brook in 1986. Dr.
Blauzvern completed a fellowship in Pain Management
and Pediatric Anesthesiology at the State University
of New York, Stony Brook in 1987. Dr. Blauzvern
served in the United States Air Force as the
Assistant Director of the Pain Management Clinic at
Wilford Hall in San Antonio, Texas before moving to
Dallas to enter private practice. Dr.
Blauzvern moved to Austin to join the Central Texas
Spine Institute in May, 1994. He is board
certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology
in 1991 and was awarded the Certificate in Pain Management
by the Board. Dr. Blauzvern is also recognized
as a Diplomat by the American Academy of Pain
Management. Dr. Blauzvern's comprehensive pain
management practice involves the control of pain
through various regional anesthetic techniques,
coordinated with related referral services such as
Orthopedics, Neurology, Psychology, Psychiatry,
Internal Medicine, General Surgery and Physical
Medicine and Rehabilitation. In his spare time,
Dr. Blauzvern and his wife, Patti enjoy spending
time outdoors with their young son.

Randall F. Dryer, M.D. opened his orthopedic
practice in Austin in 1988. He received his
Bachelor of Science with honors from the University
of Iowa in 1974. Dr. Dryer graduated from the
University of Iowa with an M.D. in 1977. He
completed his internship in 1978 followed by a
residency in orthopedic surgery in 1982, all at the
University of Iowa. Dr. Dryer completed a
fellowship in Spine and Hand Surgery at New
Addenbrooks Hospital in Cambridge, England in 1984.
He served in the United States Air Force at Wilford
Hall, Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
He progressed from staff orthopedist to Chief of
Orthopedic Surgery by the time of his discharge in
1988. Dr. Dryer was board certified by the
American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in 1983 and
later became a Fellow in the American College of
Surgeons. He is a member of the Travis County
Medical Society, the Texas Medical Association and
the Texas Orthopedic Association. Dr. Dryer is
also a member of the North American Spine Society,
the Cervical Spine Research Society, the Spine
Arthroplasty Society and and past president of the
Texas Spine Society. Dr. Dryer is the father of a
young son and three young daughters. In his
free time, he enjoys playing tennis and spending
time with his children. Dr. Dryer limits his
practice to the cervical and lumbar spine.

O.
Atilla Onan, M.D. joined the Central Texas Spine
Institute in June of 2003. He received a
Bachelor of Arts degree with Highest Honors in
Biology from the University of Texas at Austin in
1991. Dr. Onan graduated from Baylor College
of Medicine, In Houston, obtaining his M.D.with
Honors in 1995. He completes a General Surgery
Internship at Baylor College of Medicine in June
1996. In 2001, Dr. Onan completed his
Orthopedic Surgery Residency, also at Baylor College
of Medicine.Dr. Onan served a fellowship in spine
surgery with the Seattle Spine Group from July 2001
through May 2002 before moving to Austin to begin
his private practice at Brackenridge Hospital.
In June of 2003, Dr. Onan joined the Central Texas
Spine Institute. Dr. Onan is board certified
by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. Onan is married to Hilliary Onan, who is also
a physician. They are the proud parents of a
young daughter.
Dr. Onan specializes in surgery of the cervical
and lumbar spine.

Joe
T. Powell, M.D. received his medical Degree from the
University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston in
1967, with Honors. He then completed an
internship at Methodist Hospital in Dallas.
Dr. Powell completed his residency at Baylor
University Medical Center, also in Dallas. He
was a clinical instructor at Tripler Army Medical
Center in Honolulu from 1971 - 1974 and then taught
and practiced at Ohio State University College of
Medicine from 1974-1976.Dr. Powel entered private
practice in Austin with the Austin Neurological
Clinic in 1976. In 1981 he opened his solo
practice, Austin Physical Medicine. He
affiliated with Central Texas Spine Institute in
October 1999.
Dr. Powell is a member of the Travis County
Medical Society, the Texas Medical Association, the
American Medical Association and the Physiatrist
Association of Spine, Sports, and Occupational
Rehabilitation (PASSOR). Additionally, Dr.
Powell is a member of the Texas Society of Physical
Medicine and Rehabilitation, the North American
Spine Society and the Austin Neurological Society.
Dr. Powell is board certified in the specialty of
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. |

James
L. Smith, Jr., M.D. is a native Texan, having grown
up in Houston and attended the University of Texas
in Austin. Dr. Smith graduated from the
University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston in
1983. He served his internship and orthopedic
residency at the Baylor College of Medicine in
Houston from 1983 through 1988. His training
includes a spine fellowship at the Baylor College of
Medicine, under Dr. William R. Francis, and at the
University of British Columbia, Vancouver, B.C.,
Canada. Dr. Smith was certified by the
American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in 1991 and
re-certified in 2002. He was certified by the
American Board of Spine Surgery in 2000.Dr. Smith
is a member of the Travis County Medical Society,
the Texas Medical Association and the Texas
Orthopaedic Association. He is also a member
of the North American Spine Society and a past
president of the Texas Spine Society. In
December 2004, Dr. Smith was selected one of the
Texas Super Doctors by "Texas
Monthly" magazine!
Dr. Smith and his wife, Deborah, are the parents
of two young sons. Dr. Smith is active in the
Good Shepherd Episcopal Church and enjoys spending
leisure time with his family.
